Understanding the FX II
System
components
The FX II’s cabinet provides universal board slots that accept digital station
boards, industry-standard telephone station boards, and loop-start, T1, and other
special-purpose line boards. In addition to the universal slots, the system has
dedicated slots for the central processor (CPU) board and the auxiliary board.
The main cabinet provides a total of six universal slots that can support various
combinations of lines and stations.
How the system
works
The FX II provides cost-effective voice and data communications using the latest
PCM-TDM (pulse code modulated/time division multiplexing) digital switching
technology. The switching architecture provides a non-blocking switching array
that gives all ports simultaneous access through the system. Digital technology
allows simultaneous voice and data transmission. The FX II supports the Comdial
telephones listed in Chapter 2.
